Sale Common, River Heritage and Wetlands Trail

The internationally listed Sale Common wetlands include freshwater marshes and red gum woodlands with an enormous variety of birdlife that you can see from the boardwalk.

Location: Sale
Distance: 15 km return, can be broken into sections
Grade: Level 1 – No experience required. Flat even surface with no steps or steep sections. Suitable for wheelchair users with someone to assist them. Walks up to 5 km.
Level 2 – No experience required. The track is hardened gravel or compacted surface and may have a gentle hill section or sections and some steps. Walks up to 10 km.
Getting there: Sale Common is on South Gippsland Highway (A440), just south of Sale. You can commence the walk from a number of points including the Port of Sale, Lake Guthridge and South Gippsland Highway near Cox's Bridge.
