Thurra River Dunes Walk
Explore a unique landscape of sand dunes towering 30 metres above the Thurra River. Climb a track that winds to their summit through coastal banksias and heathland.
Location: Point Hicks, Croajingolong National Park
Distance: 4 km return, 2 hr
Grade: Level 3–4, sand dunes
Level 3 – Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may have short steep sections, a rough surface and steps.Walks up to 20 km.
Level 4 – Bushwalking experience and a good level of fitness required. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signage may be limited. Walks may be more than 20km.
Getting there: The Thurra River Dunes are about 45 km from Cann River. From Cann River, turn south off the highway onto Tamboon Road (opposite the hotel) for about 15 km, then left along the Point Hicks Road. The walk begins at the Thurra River Campground, near campsite 14.
