West Gippsland Hinterland Drive
Wind your way through the magnificent and diverse landscapes of West Gippsland on this unique scenic drive. Discover charming historical villages and rejuvenate body and mind while reveling in the stunning natural beauty around you. Kick off in Melbourne and pass through the rolling hills of the Yarra Ranges to Powelltown. Continue through Noojee to spectacular Mt Baw Baw taking in the villages of Walhalla, Rawson and Erica before heading back to Melbourne via Moe and Yarragon.
Drive from Powelltown under the leafy shade of the state forest towards Noojee where you'll find the giant Ada Tree – believed to be more than 300 years old.
Begin your descent on the South Face Road (unsealed). A turn off via the Mt Erica Road will take you to Mushroom Rocks, an impressive display of giant granite tors.
Slowly make your way down from the subalpine region to learn about life as an early pioneer at Old Gippstown, Gippsland's heritage park.
