The 11-day program is packed with the world's leading writers, thinkers, illustrators and performers. Over the festival you will meet international literary sensations, edgy innovators and grand old masters, hear tales of the darkest dreams, heartbreak and redemption, share stories of money, greed, obsession and financial folly, and stories to make you laugh out loud and reflect deeply.
International stars and local Festival guests will light up our Keynote events, innovative panel discussions, lively in-conversation sessions, film screenings, workshops, debates, master classes, launches, performances, seminars, professional development and Schools' program.
Aimed for people of all ages, Melbourne Writers Festival venues range from the Federation Square hub and the Town Hall, to restaurants and outdoor spaces. Across 11 days, The Melbourne Writers Festival will engage with over 350 international and local writers, at over 300 events, attracting more than 50,000 attendees. This year's festival program features an enormous range of literary activity with up to a third of all events free.
